Questions
Before you book
What are the mind and movement classes?
Our mat-based classes — barre, mat pilates, yoga and sound bath — in a studio dedicated to mindful movement. They improve concentration, balance and control, and are designed around the neurological benefits of exercise as much as the physical ones.
You should leave calmer, lighter and ready for the day ahead.
What is the difference between the hot classes?
All are heated with infrared. Hot Slow Glow is gentle: slow, mindful movement and deep stretching, and the best place to start if you are new to exercising in heat. Hot Ignite Flow is an energising vinyasa flow. Hot Power combines contemporary pilates with functional strength training. Hot Barre adds infrared heat to the barre method.
I have never done a hot class. Where do I start?
Hot Slow Glow. It is suitable for all levels and ideal for beginners, and we specifically recommend it before Hot Ignite Flow if you are new to exercising in heat.
Bring a towel — towels are required for all hot classes and can be bought or hired on site for £1.
Are the hot classes suitable in pregnancy?
No. Hot Ignite Flow, Hot Power and Hot Barre are not suitable for prenatal members, or for anyone with high blood pressure.
For mat-based classes in pregnancy, Barre, Barre Fusion, Mat Pilates and Sculpt Mat Pilates are all suitable for all levels including prenatal. Tell your instructor before class.
What is the difference between Barre and Barre Fusion?
Barre is a low-impact full-body workout using bodyweight and the ballet barre to strengthen, tone and build muscular endurance — with the signature barre burn. It uses a ballet barre, not a reformer.
Barre Fusion combines the barre method with the control and flow of mat pilates: high-repetition sequences, targeted muscle work and core-focused movement.
Do I need grip socks for mat classes?
Grip socks are required for reformer classes. For barre and mat classes we still recommend them for grip and hygiene, and they are available at reception for £20 or with R|C reward points.
For yoga you can practise barefoot.
